Winger man killed in motorcycle crash near Mahnomen

MAHNOMEN, Minn. – A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident near here on Sunday evening.

Andrew Johnson, of Winger, was traveling southbound on County Road 4 about 22 miles northeast of here when he lost control of his motorcycle and went into the ditch, Mahnomen County Sheriff Doug Krier said in a news release.

Deputies responded to a 911 call around 6:20 p.m. and found Johnson lying in the ditch next to his motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Johnson was not wearing a helmet and speed was a factor in the crash, according to the news release. The crash is still under investigation by the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office.
