DL man to appear on drug possession charge

A Detroit Lakes man is scheduled to make his first court appearance July 7 in Becker County on a felony drug charge.

Steven Paul Rader, 45, of 10569 Johnson Trail, was charged with one felony count of fifth degree possession of a controlled substance.

The charge stems from a Nov. 9, 2007 incident in which a Becker County sheriff's deputy was called to assist two state conservation officers who, while executing a search warrant at the defendant's residence in connection with an unrelated matter, discovered drug paraphernalia including a glass pipe and tin foil, as well as three small white pills later determined to be a prescription narcotic known as Percocet.
