The following items were taken from reports at the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Becker County Sheriff's Department.
Thursday, July 10
n At 5:12 p.m. the theft of two steel swords was reported by the Detroit Lakes Tae Kwon Do school. One had a black, square brass handle and fish style design, with a red scabbard. The other was a replica straight sword.
Friday, July 11
n At 8:16 a.m. a rural Detroit Lakes man reported his Toyota Corolla had been sabotaged at Zorbaz with a homemade spike strip made of cardboard, electrical tape and nails. It was used to flatten a rear tire.
n At 9:33 a.m. Graffiti was reported in a bathroom at Lincoln Education Center.
n At 10:51 a.m. the Caboose coffee shop near Wal-Mart reported someone had cut a screen to gain entry and tampered with a cabinet. Nothing appeared to be missing. People had been seen hanging out there after the store was closed. Extra police patrols were requested.
n At 11:58 a.m. police received a report that a 24-year-old woman had thrown a small puppy against a wall at State Bank and Trust. She left on foot with a 31-year-old man. When stopped by an officer, she denied hurting the puppy, which appeared to be in good health. The man was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Clay County.
n At 10:36 p.m. two women, ages 35 and 31, refused to leave the Sandbar II after an altercation. They said it was unfair they were being asked to leave, but finally did so at the officer's insistence.
Saturday, July 12
n At 12:10 a.m. a fight involving several women was reported at the Northside bar. They left before officers arrived.
n At 2:03 a.m. a woman at the Kmart parking lot reported a small child in a vehicle being restrained by chains instead of a seat belt.
The officer who responded talked to a 34-year-old Frazee woman who had fashioned a three-point harness of chain link to restrain her 6-year-old daughter. The woman said the girl otherwise always got out of the booster seat while they were driving.
The officer advised her that the law does not require a booster seat for a 6-year-old and to simply allow the girl to ride in the car with a seat belt.
n At 3:50 a.m. a BNSF Railway worker reported a man wearing a blue athletic shirt had played "chicken" with a train, only getting off the tracks at the last minute. A Detroit Lakes police officer checked the entire Washington Avenue/downtown area, but was unable to locate the man.
n At 8:10 a.m. an employee at Holiday gas station found a very small bag of marijuana apparently dropped by a customer. It was taken to the police evidence locker and will be destroyed.
n At 7:19 a.m. a Bismarck man reported that his vehicle had been rummaged through while parked overnight on the 23000 block of County Road 22.
n At 11:24 a.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported a wheel had fallen off his vehicle while he was driving the previous day.
n At 4:45 p.m. an Eclipse stereo was reported stolen from a 2000 Crown Victoria in the Lake Eunice area.
n At 4:44 p.m. an Elk River woman reported the theft of $400 cash and a check for $223 from her purse in a vehicle parked on the 11000 block of Fern Beach Drive, Detroit Lakes.
n At 9:17 p.m. a Motley woman reported a construction traffic sign blew over on her vehicle while she was driving on Highway 10 near North Shore drive. Her 2006 Buick sedan sustained damage to the headlight, hood, door and roof.
n At 9:53 p.m. a Mahnomen County deputy found a burned pickup truck on Sawmill Road on North Round Lake in Becker County.
Sunday, July 13
n At 9:04 a.m. a 1999 Cadillac escalade stolen from Hanson's Auto Sales in Detroit Lakes was recovered in a ditch off County Road 34. It had hit a tree and was hung up on a rock.
n At 10:58 a.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported a theft from his cabin overnight. Taken were a cell phone and a camera. He said he had heard knocking on a wall at about 2 a.m. The cabin was on the 11000 block of Dakotah Beach Road.
n At 1:40 p.m. vehicle tampering was reported on the 11000 block of Dakotah Beach Road. The vehicle was entered and rummaged through overnight. Nothing appeared to be missing.
n At 1:54 p.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported a burglary on the 11000 block of Dakotah Beach Road. A TV set was stolen.
n At 6:43 p.m. a St. Paul woman reported the theft of five dresses, valued at $350 apiece, and a pair of $300 sunglasses, from the trunk of her car while it was parked overnight in Becker County.
Monday, July 14
n At 2:37 a.m. two burglary suspects were apprehended in the Lake Melissa area with the help of the Detroit Lakes K-9 unit.
n At 6:06 a.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported an accident with injuries near Rainbow Resort. The driver was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. White Earth police officers handled the case.
n At 10:30 a.m. a 15-year-old Detroit Lakes boy suffered scrapes and bruises when he was hit by a car while bicycling across Randolph Road on the Roosevelt Avenue crosswalk.
The bicyclist was Michael Brunnir. The 1992 Chrysler Fifth Avenue was driven by Robert Wayne Bjoeklund, 53.
n At 10:50 a.m. a cottage break-in was reported on the 24000 block of Bay View Lane, Detroit Lakes. About 10 bottles of liquor were taken, Entry was through an unlocked side door.
n At 1:59 p.m. the theft of two chain saws and a power washer was reported on the 11000 block of Dakotah Beach Road.
n At 2:24 p.m. a Minneapolis woman reported the theft of two cell phones from an unlocked car on the 23000 block of County Road 22.
n At 3:47 p.m. a 2000 Ford Taurus lost a wheel at the junction of Roosevelt Avenue and Highway 34. The 18-year-old driver said the car felt like it was having mechanical problems just prior to the incident in which the lug nuts on the right front wheel were sheered off.
n At 6:43 p.m. a Ponsford man reported the theft of a salvage vehicle, a Nissen, that was taken sometime after Friday.
n At 7:10 p.m. an ambulance was dispatched to the Osage public beach to treat a person with a possible broken leg.
