DL woman sentenced for giving false name
A Detroit Lakes woman was convicted and sentenced last week in Becker County District Court on charges of giving a false name to a peace officer and driving after license cancellation, while a felony drug possession charge was dismissed.
Cleon June Fairbanks, 43, of 1150 Jackson Ave., Detroit Lakes, was ordered to serve 365 days in jail and fined $210.
According to court records, Fairbanks was stopped for suspected drunk driving on County Road 34 in Becker County on Feb. 15. She identified herself as Crystal Parisian -- who is her sister -- but the officer who made the traffic stop knew who she was.
A pill and a straw, which could potentially be used for inhaling narcotics, were both found inside Fairbanks' purse after her arrest.
The pill was later identified as Clonezepam. Fairbanks was convicted in 2008 on a felony charge of selling drugs in Mahnomen County.
