Goodridge man arrested after allegedly firing shot during standoff

GOODRIDGE, Minn. – A 50-year-old Goodridge man who allegedly fired a pistol at another person was arrested after a nearly seven-hour standoff here on Saturday.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 3:54 p.m. that Wesley Walton had fired one pistol round at another person in Goodridge, according to a news release.

The sheriff’s office, Red Lake County Tactical Team and Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene. After a nearly seven-hour standoff, authorities entered Walton’s residence and took him into custody at 10:40 p.m.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Walton is being held in the Pennington County Jail in Thief River Falls.

Goodridge is about 18 miles east of Thief River Falls and 70 miles north-east of Grand Forks.
