Crime and Accidents

The following items were taken from reports at the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Becker County Sheriff’s Office.

Friday, April 5

  • At 8:46 p.m. the theft of a cell phone was reported from the Detroit Lakes high school.
  • At 12:20 p.m. a burglary was reported on the 500 block of Balsam in Frazee. A checkbook was stolen, and an attempt made to pass a forged check.

Saturday, April 6

  • At 6:01 a.m.  a domestic dispute was reported in Detroit Lakes.
  • At 9:10 a.m. a one-vehicle rollover was reported on County Road 14 a mile west of Highway 59 in Callaway Township. The woman driving the Ford Taurus was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Roads were slippery at the time of the accident.
  • At 5:32 p.m. a garage break-in was reported on the 25000 block of County Road 32 in Holmesville Township. The break-in occurred sometime during the past two weeks.
  • At 5:49 p.m. two girls reported the theft of items from a locker room at the Detroit Lakes Community Center. Taken was a North Face jacket with a debit card in one pocket and a pink camouflage purse.

Sunday, April 7

  • At 2:41 a.m. the emergency room reported an assault, with a Detroit Lakes man being treated for a cut finger.

Monday, April 8

  • At 7:53 a.m. the theft of a National Guard rucksack was reported. It was apparently taken during a garage break-in the previous week from a residence on the 50 block of Broadway Ave.
  • At 8:37 a.m. an overnight break-in was reported at Wildflower golf course.
