Moorhead man to plead guilty in death of baby daughter in hot car

MOORHEAD - A Moorhead man charged in the death of his infant daughter after leaving her in a hot car for several hours last summer has agreed to plead guilty in the case.

Andrew Sandstrom's public defender said Thursday the terms of the plea deal struck with Clay County prosecutors will allow his client to avoid prison time.

Sandstrom was charged with second-degree manslaughter in the June 11 death of his 5-month-old daughter, Christiana, after leaving her in the family van parked outside the family's apartment in south Moorhead.

Sandstrom told officers he fell asleep while he was watching her and the family's five other children, all under the age of 7. The surviving children are all now in foster care.

Sandstrom declined comment after court.
