Authorities rule death in Montevideo a homicide

MONTEVIDEO, Minn. – Authorities have ruled that the death of Thomas Dickson, 64, on Dec. 23 here is a homicide, Police Chief Adam Christopher announced on Saturday.

Dickson’s body reportedly had been found about 10:15 p.m. Dec. 23 in his upstairs apartment in a building on Canyon Avenue, one block from the city’s Main Street. Police initially termed the death suspicious.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called to the scene with its mobile crime laboratory.

The victim’s body was transported to the Ramsey County medical examiner’s office. Investigators had been waiting for a report from the office.

Christopher said the cause of Dickson’s death is not being released at this time.

He added that police do not believe there is any risk to the public.
