DL man sentenced for felony DWI
Dean Leroy Block, 46, of rural Detroit Lakes has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony DWI.
A second felony DWI charge and a gross misdemeanor DWI charge were dropped in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on Dec. 9, 2016 a trooper pulled him over after receiving a report of an erratic driver on Becker County Road 11 and Highway 10. His blood alcohol level tested at .15 percent. He was previously convicted of first-degree DWI in 2007.
Block appeared in court April 26 before District Judge Jay Carlson, who sentenced him to 42 months in prison at St. Cloud, stayed seven years.
He was ordered to complete DWI Court and serve three days in jail, with credit for three days served. He was fined $1,000, with $500 stayed, and must pay $690 in court fees. He was placed on supervised probation for seven years, and must serve 30 days on electronic home monitoring for each year of probation. The sentence is to be served consecutive to any previously-imposed but unexpired DWI sentences.
