DL man charged with DWI after hitting utility pole
Savann Voeun, 33, of Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony DWI and gross misdemeanor driving after his license was canceled.
According to court records, on May 17, a Detroit Lakes police officer responded to a report of an accident outside of Detroit Lakes. The vehicle had struck a pole, and the driver was outside the vehicle. Two witnesses allegedly saw Voeun swerve off the road and hit a utility pole. He told the officer that another vehicle came at him and he swerve to avoid a crash. A search warrant was obtained and his blood alcohol level allegedly tested at .14 percent. He was convicted of felony DWI in 2014 and his license was canceled as inimical to public safety.
Voeun appeared in court May 19 before District Judge Steven Drange, who set bond at $20,000, with standard conditions of release, or $40,000 without conditions.
