Frazee man sentenced for domestic assault
Ricky Lynn Anderson, 49, of Frazee, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony domestic assault and felony violating a no-contact order.
According to court records, on March 4 in Frazee he was intoxicated and hit his wife in the face then grabbed her very tightly by the neck. He punched a mirror and broke other items at their home. The assault occurred in front of a child.
From March 13 to 21, he ignored a domestic restraining order and called the victim 11 times from the Becker County Jail, while she was staying with his brother. Anderson told her she needed to change her statement, and told his brother that witnesses needed to not appear or to change their statements.
Anderson appeared in court July 11 before District Judge Jay Carlson, who sentenced him on the domestic assault charge to 18 months in prison, stayed five years. He was ordered to serve 96 days in jail, with credit for 96 days served, and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and $665 in court fees.
On the charge of violating a restraining order, he was sentenced to 21 months in prison, stayed five years. He was ordered to serve 87 days in jail, with credit for 87 days served, and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and $665 in court fees.
He must get domestic abuse and chemical dependency evaluations and follow the recommendations. A new restraining order was issued.
He was also sentence on a misdemeanor charge of furnishing tobacco to a minor. He was fined $40 plus $125 in court fees and placed on six months unsupervised probation.
