The following items were taken from reports at the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Becker County Sheriff's Department.
Thursday, July 17
n At 11:35 a.m. the owner of Janke Vacuum on North Washington Avenue reported that kids on the roof had damaged an air conditioner unit. He said kids were going up the stairs on the next building and jumping over to his building.
He was concerned because the steps they are using are rotting out and unsafe. He agreed to contact the city building inspector and to post "no trespassing" signs.
n At 3:37 p.m. a woman at Long Bridge reported that a young person jumping off the bridge had almost hit a boat passing underneath.
Friday, July 18
n At 2:06 a.m. a car was reported on fire on North Washington Avenue. The Detroit Lakes Fire Department was on the scene for about half an hour.
n At 7:55 a.m. a woman reported she had punctured a tire after she ran over debris on North Washington Avenue left over from a vehicle fire the previous night.
n At 10:53 a.m. a broken window was reported on a vacant house in Audubon.
n At 8:36 p.m. a woman reported the rear window of her van had been shattered by a baseball from Washington Ballpark while she was parked across the street on Washington Avenue during a baseball game.
Saturday, July 19
n At 3:36 p.m. Zorbaz reported a disorderly customer was swearing and arguing with staff. The 29-year-old man was removed by law enforcement.
n At 4:02 p.m. law enforcement officers handled traffic control for a motorcycle group riding for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
n At 6:29 p.m. Detroit Lakes police received a complaint of four people fighting in the street at Central and Davis. The fight originated with two intoxicated men who got into a minor fight on the 200 block of East Central Avenue and were kicked out of a residence. A 24-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct and a 23-year-old man was given a ride home.
Sunday, July 20
n A car fire was reported in the woods off County Road 35, Round Lake.
n At 12:24 a.m. a Jeep hit a skateboarder at Willow Avenue and Jackson Street.
The skateboarder, Ross Donald Leach, 22, of rural Detroit Lakes was skateboarding east on Willow, which intersects with Jackson at the bottom of a steep hill. The skateboarder was unable to stop or turn, but the driver of the Jeep, northbound on Jackson, saw him coming down the hill and slowed way down. The skateboarder ended up underneath the front end of the vehicle.
The driver of the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee was Isaac Leonard Olson, 22, of Detroit Lakes. He took Leach to the emergency room at St. Mary's Innovis Health for treatment of abrasions and road rash.
n At 12:46 a.m. a 31-year-old man got into a scuffle with a bouncer at Zorbaz. He was sent on his way. The bouncer chose not to press charges.
n At 1:10 a.m. an extremely intoxicated woman was reported lying on a street corner at Curry and Grant in Detroit Lakes. She complained of chest pains and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
n At 11:06 a.m. a man and a woman were both treated in a Park Rapids hospital for assault injuries suffered in Ponsford. Neither would talk to police about the assault.
n At 11:16 a.m. an Audubon man reported the theft of gasoline from his boat on the 17000 block of 200th Street.
n At 8:19 p.m. an 18-year-old woman was cited for alcohol consumption and removed from Zorbaz.
n At 9:32 Garrett Foltz, 16, was treated for scrapes and bruises at the emergency room after being hit by a 2002 Ford Explorer backing out of a space in the Washington Square Mall parking lot.
The Explorer, driven by Winona Olivia Goettel, 16, of Detroit Lakes, was backing out when it hit a parked 2007 Subaru Legacy driven by Kyle Preston Watson, 20, of Detroit Lakes, who was in the Subaru at the time. Foltz was caught between the two vehicles, according to the accident report.
Monday, July 21
n At 12:14 a.m. a Vergas man reported his vehicle had been vandalized in Frazee.
n At 1:42 a.m. a 17-year-old Osage girl was injured in a one-vehicle rollover. She was treated in Park Rapids.
n At 6:56 a.m. Hough, Inc., a landscaping business in Detroit Lakes, reported the theft of two-way radios and chainsaws. Toolboxes were also dumped out during the incident, which occurred in Frazee.
n At 11:09 a.m. an Ogema man reported he had been hit in the face eight or nine times during an assault.
n At 11:26 a.m. a White Earth woman reported people were shooting guns off on the 36000 block of 270th Avenue.
n At 4:48 p.m. a Frazee man reported the theft of a bicycle from the 600 block of Cherry.
Tuesday, July 22
n At 1:52 a.m. a car was reported vandalized in the Lake Sallie Campground at the Soo Pass Ranch.
n At 4:58 a.m. a Ponsford woman reported a car was on fire east of the school in Ponsford.
n At 8:14 a.m. a report was received of spray-paint vandalism at several buildings, including a church, in Osage.
Wednesday, July 23
n At 5:25 p.m. a woman on the 600 block of Andrews Avenue reported a man hit her mailbox with his fist. Police located the 25-year-old man a half-block away and arrested him on a State Department of Corrections warrant. He was charged with fleeing a peace officer on foot and damage to property.
Thursday, July 24
n At 1:02 p.m. a downed tree was reportedly blocking one lane of traffic just past Shorewood Pub on Long Bridge Road. The Detroit Lakes Street Department handled it.
n At 1:10 p.m. workers with Northern Pipeline Co. hit a gas line while digging on the 800 block of Highway 10 east in Detroit Lakes. Traffic was routed onto Corbett Road and Northshore Drive. Workers hit a three-quarter-inch service line that was not on the plat map. It no longer serves anything, but was not capped of at the main.
n At 4:35 p.m. an accident with injuries was reported on Highway 59 South near L&M Fleet.
Linda Fistler, 49, of Detroit Lakes was treated for minor injuries after the air bag deployed on her 1995 Camero.
She was southbound on Highway 59 when a 2005 Dodge Dakota driven by Milan Tingelstad, 85, of Detroit Lakes failed to yield when he pulled onto the highway from a side street, and the two collided. Both were wearing seat belts. Tingelstad was not hurt, according to the State Patrol.
n At 5:18 p.m. a White Earth woman reported her two daughters took her car without permission and hid her cell phone. She was also allegedly assaulted by someone named "Hardy."
n At 9 p.m. a Bocca Raton, Fla., man reported the theft of a backpack near the West Gate at Soo Pass Ranch.
n At 9:35 p.m. a rural Lake Park man reported somebody had taken his 1993 Pontiac sometime that day and driven it around the yard and into a group of trees.
n At 10:25 p.m. and 11:41 p.m. arrests for controlled substances were reported at Northwoods campground.
Friday, July 25
n At 12:46 a.m. a fight was reported outside the Lake Park Liquor Store.
n At 5:32 a.m. a controlled substance arrest was reported at 10KLF.
n At 6:53 a.m. a Mahnomen man reported that someone had punched a hole in his pickup truck gas tank and cracked the windshield while parked in Becker County.
n At 6:52 a.m. an assault was reported at Northwoods campground involving a "out of control" female.
n At 7:50 a.m. a break-in to an employee building was reported overnight at Soo Pass Ranch.
