Man charged with escape
Randy Lee Kettle, 27, of 23114 65th Ave., Ponsford has been charged with felony escape from custody.
According to court records, he has been in the Becker County Jail since June 6 serving a sentence for felony third-degree assault.
He was granted a furlough from approximately 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9 to attend a funeral. His mother called the jail about 4:25 p.m. that day to say he was still drumming at the funerals.
When told that Kettle faced possible escape charges if he did not immediately return, she allegedly said she couldn't find him, and hung up the phone.
On Thursday in Becker County District Court, Judge Steven A. Anderson set bail or bond at $50,000 and set Kettle's next court appearance for Sept. 3.
