Ponsford man sees charges dropped in tire iron assault
Two felony charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon were dismissed in Becker County District Court against Terrance Jerome Arthur, 28, of 28273 County Road 129, Ponsford.
He and another man were accused of assaulting two people on March 22. Arthur had allegedly used a tire iron and the other man brass knuckles with spikes on the end
The Becker County Attorney's Office dismissed the charges on Aug. 21, with this statement: "After further investigation, several witnesses have described the incident as a mutual engagement. As such, the state would not be able to sustain its burden of proof at the time of trial."
District Judge Peter Irvine oversaw the settlement conference Wednesday. The defense attorney was Nancy Bowman.
