Audubon man gets jail time for violating no-contact order
Christopher Keith Haats, 24, of 201 Eagle St. Audubon has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order.
According to court records, in July Haats had been in contact several times with his ex-girlfriend and mother of his 2-year-old and had asked her to drop the no-contact order.
He was convicted of domestic assault in 2008 and gross misdemeanor assault this year.
He appeared Thursday before District Judge Joe Evans, who stayed imposition of sentence for five years and placed him on supervised probation for five years.
He was ordered to serve time in jail from July 22 to Jan.8, with work release and STS privileges granted.
He was fined $500 plus court fees but can do community service work in lieu of the fine. He was ordered to attend a cognitive restructuring program and get a chemical use assessment. The no-contact order was dismissed.
