Man accused of assaulting Fargo officer, threatening to kill security guard

FARGO - A man who called dispatch Monday night saying he had a gun and was headed for the Fargo Police Department, was later arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer and a hospital security guard.

Police responded to the initial call at about 10 p.m. when the man arrived at police headquarters on a bike.

Sgt. Carlos Nestler said the man wasn't actually armed but was upset over a previous incident with officers.

The man complied with police after about five to 10 minutes and was taken into custody.

The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and while there he allegedly kicked a police officer and threatened to kill a security guard, also hitting the security guard below the eye, Fargo Police Sgt. Mike Erbes said.

Police arrested 42-year-old Michael Edward Olson, who has no permanent address, on suspicion of terrorizing, felony simple assault, misdemeanor simple assault and disorderly conduct, Erbes said.
