Callaway man gets jail for drug sale
A Callaway man was convicted and sentenced Wednesday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of selling drugs.
Wayne Allen Gjerde, 48, of 115 Wisconsin St., Callaway, was ordered to serve 18 months in prison, stayed on conditions including completion of a one-year jail sentence, up to 30 years of supervised probation and payment of $1,160 in court fines and fees. He was also authorized for sentence-to-service work.
Gjerde was initially charged in connection with two separate incidents.
He was accused of selling 1.3 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant of the West Central Minnesota Drug Task Force on June 20, for $200 in cash.
When officers executed a warrant for his arrest on that charge on Nov. 23, a pat down search of Gjerde yielded about a half gram of meth in various small baggies, taken from his pockets.
He was subsequently charged with felony drug possession in connection with the second incident, but that charge was dismissed per plea agreement, according to court documents.
