Ponsford teen sentenced for burglary, car theft
A Ponsford teenager was sentenced last week in Becker County District Court on charges of first-degree burglary and motor vehicle theft (two counts).
Kevin Wayne Fineday Jr., 17, of 28407 County Road 129, Ponsford, was given a 21-month prison sentence, stayed, and placed on indefinite, supervised probation, possibly as long as four years (until his 21st birthday). He must also pay $500 restitution to the victim and complete 50 hours of community service.
Fineday was charged in connection with a Sept. 12, 2011 break-in and burglary at a Becker County residence.
According to the complaint, the owners of the home reported that they had gone to sleep at around 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, waking up at 5:45 a.m. to discover numerous items had been taken -- including their Honda CRV. The vehicle was later found abandoned in a ditch, completely burned up. A fingerprint found inside the home was later found to be a match for one of Fineday's that was on file with the state.
Fineday was also found to be connected to another motor vehicle theft in the area that same day, in which the vehicle was also burned.
