Man gets jail for making threats
An Ogema man was sentenced Monday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of terroristic threats.
Stanley Goble Jr., 54, of 37661 337th Ave., Ogema, was sentenced to 18 months (1½ years) in prison, stayed on conditions including completion of a 114-day jail sentence (with credit for all 114 days as previously served) and community service in lieu of a $1,160 fine.
Goble was accused of threatening a couple at their Ogema residence on April 8. According to the criminal complaint, the couple were sitting beside a bonfire at their Ogema residence during the early morning hours of April 8 when a man they didn't know -- Goble -- came up to them and started engaging them in conversation.
Goble informed them that he was a Navy SEAL, and when the man questioned whether he was telling the truth, Goble allegedly became angry and threatened them physically because they didn't believe him.
The couple was subsequently able to subdue Goble and hold him until law enforcement officers arrived to arrest him, the complaint stated.
