Police arrest 58-year-old in connection with midday stabbing in Fargo

FARGO – Police here arrested a 58-year-old Fargo man on suspicion of aggravated assault after a stabbing reported Tuesday just after 12 p.m.

Cliftord Willie Robington was arrested in connection with the stabbing alleged at an apartment house in the 500 block of 10th Street South, Lt. Joel Vettel said.

An adult male was taken to the hospital after it appears he was stabbed multiple times in the torso with an “edge weapon,” such as a knife, Vettel said.

Responding officers found the injured man outside the apartment. He was taken to Sanford Health by ambulance, and his condition isn’t known. Police didn’t immediately release the identity of the victim.

Vettel said police spoke with Robington inside the apartment and later arrested him. The suspect and the injured man know each other, he said. Police think a woman was also in the apartment at the time of the stabbing, but she was gone by the time officers arrived.

It appears the suspect and victim had been arguing about something that happened earlier in the day, Vettel said, but he didn’t disclose any other details.
