563 hydrocodone pills found after vehicle stop in Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS - An East Grand Forks resident faces drug charges after a vehicle stop Wednesday afternoon on DeMers Avenue in Grand Forks.

Leonard Luna, 55, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and driving under suspension, according to the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Department.

Luna was stopped in the 2100 block of DeMers at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday as part of a drug interdiction patrol, which are done periodically by the sheriff’s department, Grand Forks Police Department and the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 563 hydrocodone pills in a paper bag wrapped in tape. The pills carry a reported street value of about $5,600, according to the sheriff’s department.

An additional 27 morphine tablets, worth approximately $270, were discovered as Luna was being processed at Grand Forks County Correctional Center, according to the report.

The investigation is continuing.
