Hunt down your best party hat and get ready for a lovely afternoon of music, tea, and a beautiful Labyrinth garden.

The fourth annual Lakes Homes Tea Party will be held on Sunday, June 30. Two tea times are offered, at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.

According to Molly Reiffenberger, event chair for Lakes Homes, the tea will be served indoors this year, in an “intimate space.” The theme is refurbished vintage, providing a fun, bright atmosphere. Tables are set for four, though larger groups can be accommodated.

Both hot and cold tea will be served, as well as a variety of sandwiches and desserts.

Reiffenberger also noted that it’s become a tradition for the event to experiment with different types of punch, and this year a rhubarb version will be available.

The Labyrinth gardens will be open for visitors both before and after the tea is served. “The clients help maintain it,” Reiffenberger said of the gorgeous greenery and flowers. The garden is the largest of its kind in the area.

A photo booth will be available, providing a fun keepsake and way to remember the event. A tent will be also be set up outside with a musical performance from Dan Thornby Band from 2-4:30 pm.

A garden craft sale with items made by employees and clients of Lakes Homes will also run throughout the event.

Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite tea or garden hat.  Everyone that attends wearing a hat will be entered in a prize drawing.

Admission to the tea party is $25 per person. While reservations are preferred, walk-ins are also welcomed on the day of the event.

Funds from the tea party and craft sale will benefit Lakes Homes horticulture and music therapy programs. Clients are provided the opportunity to work in the garden and to play instruments with the guidance of a music therapist.

Interested groups are also invited to tour one of the group homes during the event.

Reservations can be made by calling 218-847-5642, and Lakes Homes are located at 914 Lake Forest Circle, just off of South Shore.
