DL woman charged in 2013 crash
A Detroit Lakes woman has been charged in Becker County District Court with four felony counts of criminal vehicular operation, in connection with a July 2013 crash east of Detroit Lakes.
Louise Vivian Hanson, 57, of 38789 State Highway 34, Detroit Lakes, was allegedly under the influence of medication when the Jeep she was driving was involved in a collision with a motorcycle.
The accident occurred on Highway 34, five miles east of Detroit Lakes, at around 7 p.m. on July 19. The driver and a passenger on the motorcycle were both injured.
After a search warrant was obtained to take a sample of Hanson’s blood at the scene, a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension analysis showed the presence of several types of medication, including gabapentin, lamotrigine, methylphenidate and ritalinic acid. Some of the symptoms of these drugs include sedation, dizziness and blurred vision.
Hanson is in custody pending her next court appearance at a Feb. 18 Rule 8 hearing. Her bail was set at $20,000 with conditions, or $40,000 without conditions.
