Detroit Lakes posts win over East Grand Forks on Friday night
FERGUS FALLS - The Detroit Lakes American Legion baseball team is still in the Region Nine tournament after beating East Grand Forks 12-2 in a must-win game Friday night.
The game was called after seven innings because of the 10-run rule.
It was a bitter-sweet ending for EGF coach Keith Blattenbauer as he played and coached for the Detroit Lakes program before coming to East Grand Forks this season.
Reed Oistad had four hits and Jake Kiebke added three to lead the Detroit Lakes offense, which built a 6-2 lead after two innings and added three in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Cody Grassel had a pair of hits and Brad Marek drove in East Grand Forks' only two runs in the top of the first inning.
Detroit Lakes advances to a loser-out game against Fergus Falls today. The winner will move to the championship against Moorhead, which is undefeated.
