Crisis center hosting first Santa Breakfast
Giving has never tasted so good!
The Lakes Crisis & Resource Center has come up with a fun new holiday tradition to boost its fund-raising efforts this season.
The LCRC's first-ever Breakfast With Santa celebration is set to take place this Sunday, Dec. 13, at Minnesota State Community & Technical College (M-State) in Detroit Lakes.
LCRC volunteers will be serving up pancakes, sausages and beverages from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the M-State cafeteria, said Tim Zastrow, who is co-chairing the event with Kari Williams.
"Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there too," Williams said.
Though the Clauses will be happy to pose for photographs and listen to children's wishes, attendees are advised to bring their own cameras, she added.
Though there is no cost to attend the breakfast, free will donations will be accepted throughout the event, Zastrow noted.
"All proceeds will go to assist LCRC in offering services to families in need and support its children's programs," added Jan Logan, LCRC executive director.
"Last year, Lakes Crisis & Resource Center provided over 3,000 services to individuals and families in Detroit Lakes and the surrounding area," she continued.
In addition to the breakfast, Santa will also have a small gift shop where attendees can purchase homemade wool mittens, crocheted necklaces, greeting cards made by area children, "Pins by Lucinda" and other children's jewelry, Williams said.
