Rossman Elementary School held their own Relay for Life Wednesday afternoon in Peoples Park. Each Rossman student was asked to bring in one quarter for each year of their age, and the school raised more than $1,500, which was donated to the Becker County Relay for Life.

Rossman students Zach, Jourdan and Blake Brandt were asked to lead the relay through the park in honor of their mother, Julie, who has been fighting breast cancer for more than four years.

Julie went through radiation and chemotherapy four years ago after being diagnosed with breast cancer. In January, she was told the cancer had returned, metastasizing to her brain. She went through radiation again, but was told at the Mayo Clinic that the cancer had continued to metastasize throughout her body.

Julie returned home last Wednesday to be with her family and friends and is under the care of Hospice.

A benefit fund account for the Brandt family has been set up at First Security Bank, Detroit Lakes, where donations can be made.
