Run the Rose race moves back a week

The Run 'Round the Rose 12-mile race is back again this year, but scheduled for one week later in July.

"The race is a week later than usual this year as we found out that Detroit Lakes had been having a 10-mile race on the same day as the last two RRRs. So, we're all hoping for more runners this year as we don't want to compete on the same weekend as the other race," Race Director Jim Jensen said.

This year's event will take place Saturday, July 24, at 7 a.m. beginning at Spanky's Stone Heath on Rose Lake. Registration opens at 6 a.m.

Proceeds from the run benefit the American Diabetes Association.

Entry fees are $50 for individuals, $100 for 2-person teams and $125 for 4-person teams before July 17. Race day registration is $60 for individuals, $120 for 2-person teams and $150 for 4-person teams. Runners can also collect pledges to use as their entry fee.

Visit the race's website to download registration and pledge forms.

Medals will be given out to individual runners in male and female age categories, and open class 4-person teams and 2-person teams.

Runners who pre-register will be given a discount, and runners electing to collect pledges also have that option.
