Benefit planned for Landon Hochstetler

A benefit will be held 5-9 p.m. Thursday, September 30,2010, for Landon Hochstetler, 16, a Detroit Lakes High School hockey player who was hit by a car while in-line skating and is in critical condition.

The spaghetti feed will be held at Ice Cracking Lodge and will feature a free will offering, "Team Landon" T-shirts for sale and a raffle and silent auction.

The accident happened Sept. 13 near Strawberry Lake. He was struck by a car, hit the front windshield and landed in the back window.

Due to concerns about brain trauma, he was taken by LifeFlight to the intensive Care unit at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

He has skull fracture, possible blood in the brain, a damaged lung, a broken left leg, cuts and bruises to the face, arms and legs. He is in a coma and is unresponsive.

Take Highway 34 east for 15.7 miles, turn left at County Road 37 and go 9.1 miles, turn left on County Road 35 and go 4.2 miles to continue on to Ice Cracking Lodge (Do not take South Ice Cracking Road).
