U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar received the “Legislator of the Year” Award from the Agricultural Retailers Association for her work to fully restore the agriculture hours-of-service exemption in the Senate’s Surface Transportation bill, which was signed into law last year.

“From the food on our tables to the fuel in our gas tanks, farmers and ranchers need to be able to move their goods to market, and that requires 21st century infrastructure with rules that take into account the needs of rural communities,” Klobuchar said. “I am honored to have received this award and I will continue to work to reduce red tape and ensure that American agriculture can continue to export to the world.”

Klobuchar’s bipartisan provision fully restored the agriculture hours-of-service exemption across the full food and farm supply chain, making it easier for farmers to transport goods and get products to the market during critical planting and harvesting seasons. As a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Competitiveness, Innovation and Export Promotion Klobuchar has been a leader in advancing policies to support farmers and rural communities and boost agriculture exports.
