Man convicted of assault

An Audubon man has been convicted and sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Troy Michael Lade, 35, of 11795 Townhall Road, Audubon, was given a stay of imposition on a possible prison sentence, on conditions including completion of 60 days in jail and up to seven years of supervised probation, as well as payment of $1,085 in court fines and fees.

If he successfully completes probation, the felony charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor conviction on his record.

Lade was accused of getting into a physical altercation with his wife at their home during the early morning hours of Oct. 12, 2013.

According to the criminal complaint, Lade and his wife got into an argument at a friend’s home, after which she went home and went to bed. Lade came home, allegedly angry and upset because she hadn’t waited to give him a ride home.

He started yelling at her, and when she didn’t respond, he pulled her from the bed by her ankle; it was then that she reportedly noticed the gun in his hand, though she did say later that he had never pointed the weapon at her, just held it in his hand as he yelled at her and told her to get out of the house.
