Brothers giving away CDs to newborns

Historic Holmes Theatre executive Director Amy Stearns presents Debra and Chris Berg with a "Christmas Lullabies" CD by the O'Neill Brothers. The Bergs' daughter, Josie, was born Nov. 2, and all babies born in November and December at Essentia Health St. Mary's will receive a free copy of the CD. The O'Neill Brothers will be performing Dec. 4 at the Holmes Theatre.

When Tim and Annie O'Neill gave birth to their twins Owen and Gabi last year, Tim was inspired to compose and record a "Christmas Lullabies" CD with his brother and piano performing partner Ryan.

The O'Neill Brothers have since donated hundreds of copies of the CD to parents of newborns in the cities where they perform.

Throughout November and December, babies born in Essentia Health St. Mary's get a free CD courtesy of the brothers, who will also be performing Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Historic Holmes Theatre.

The O'Neill Brothers, who are from Minnesota, are dueling piano players who have recorded five various Christmas piano CDs and over 30 instrumental piano CDs. They have also written and performed music for HBO, CBS, NBC, PBS and ESPN.

Singer and harpist Katie McMahon, the original voice of "Riverdance," will join them on tour.

The "Christmas Lullabies" CD is a mix of classic nursery rhymes and Christmas songs such as "Hickory Old St. Nickory" and "We Wish You a Merry Muffin Man."

"Arranged in the O'Neill Brothers' soothing, signature style, these unique and creative collaborations are sure to help wee ones drift off to dreamland with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads," a press release from the duo states.
