Congratulations to LP-A for Parent Aware star rating
I’d like to congratulate the Lake Park-Audubon School District for its Parent Aware star rating of its early childhood program. The school district volunteered to be a part of the Parent Aware rating system from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The star rating measures best practices identified by research that help children succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
Nearly 50 percent of children in Minnesota begin kindergarten without all the skills necessary to succeed in school. This daunting gap in school preparedness costs the state approximately $860 million each year in unnecessary expenditures (special education, police, courts, prisons, health care, social services, income supports, etc.).
Star-rated programs like Lake Park-Audubon’s mean the children they serve are receiving the best education for kindergarten preparedness.
Kudos to the Lake Park-Audubon School District for its superior commitment to our littlest learners! — Nancy Straw, President, West Central Initiative
