NYM hosts corn feed, puppet pageant Friday
New York Mills will host its annual Corn Feed & Puppet Pageant this Friday, Aug. 16.
The Corn Feed runs from 4 to 7 p.m., with free sweet corn on the cob for everyone, followed by the pageant at 7 p.m.
The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center and Creamery Restaurant will sell tamales during the Corn Feed and have desserts and beverages after the Pageant at the Creamery Restaurant.
As for the pageant, it will be held outdoors, behind the Cultural Center, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.
Each year’s drama is new, and the story is primarily told through movement and dance rather than words. Curtis & Loretta, well known folk musicians from Minneapolis, will provide live music to accompany the production.
The Pageant is open to everyone at no charge and is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and by the New York Mills Civic and Commerce Association.
