Genevieve was born to Henry and Mabel Rue on September 7, 1918 on a farm near Flom. Genny was united in marriage to Melvin "Mike" Johnson. They lived in Flom, where Mike operated a repair shop and Genny worked a variety of jobs from their home where they raised their four children. Mike died in April 1978.
Genny worked at the Flom Café and VFW, and it was there that she became re-acquainted with Marv Thompson. They were married in November 1986. They moved to Detroit Lakes and continued to enjoy another 18 years together, until Marv's passing in May 2005.
