Man gets five years on firearms violation
Lawrence William Goodman, also known as Lawrence William Eaglefeather, also known as Sonny Goodman, 39, of Mahnomen, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony firearm violation — felon convicted of a crime of violence.
According to court records, on Jan. 29 multiple law enforcement agencies executed search warrants at a Becker County residence.
They found several people there wanted on warrants, found drug paraphernalia and related items sitting out in plain view, and found two guns—a 9mm handgun and a silver handgun.
Ammunition for a .22LR and 9mm Luger were found in a downstairs basement. Goodman's bedroom was also located there, locked with a padlock. He admitted receiving the two handguns in exchange for drugs, then traded the guns to others at the residence. He is not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition due to prior criminal convictions — he has four prior drug convictions and one conviction for making threats.
Goodman appeared in court Feb. 22 before District Judge Jay Carlson, who sentenced him to 60 months in prison at St. Cloud. He was fined $50 and ordered to pay $215 in court fees.
