Claude L. Mosher age 79 of Detroit Lakes, MN died May 12, 2017 in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Claude LaRoy Mosher was born December 24, 1937 in Crookston, MN to Daniel and Carola (Balstad) Mosher. He grew up on the family farm near Beltrami, MN. He went to grade school in Beltrami, and in 1956 graduated from high school at the NWSA in Crookston, MN. While in school he participated in baseball, basketball, football, and wrestling. He also boxed in the Golden Gloves, achieving the honor of Silver and Gold Medalist. He served in the MN Army National Guard from 1954 - 1964. He spent time in Co. C 136th infantry and later two years active duty with Co. C 2nd 501st infantry 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, NC. On November 23, 1962 he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Stegman in Cavalier, ND. He started his career with American Crystal Sugar in 1956 and retired as a Senior Agriculturist after thirty three years of service in 1998. Over the years he worked in Crookston, Drayton, ND, and East Grand Forks.
Claude enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, traveling, gardening, yard work, and being with family, friends, and Church. He was a member of the Helping Hands Group in Detroit Lakes. He was also a past member of the Beltrami American Legion, the Eagles Club in East Grand Forks, and Crookston, and the Elks Club in Grand Forks, ND. He was also very active in 4-H and Boy Scouts when the kids were young.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; three daughters, Michelle Mosher, of Grand Forks, ND; Beth (Chris) Armour, of Lowman, ID; and Sandra (Paul) Semerad, of Sturgis, SD; one son, Michael Mosher, of Lowman, ID; two grandsons, Brandon (Angelina) Armour, of Fargo, ND; and Peter Armour, of Lowman, ID; three great grandchildren, Ethan, Liam, and Phoenix; four brothers, Wayne (Carrol) Mosher, of St. Michael, MN; Nathan Mosher, of Moorhead, MN; Donald (Jane) Mosher, of Edina, MN; and Tom (Jan) Mosher, of Wabasha, MN; four sisters, Bette (Charlie) Wilkins, of St. Michael, MN; Judy (Jim) Ellingson, of Moorhead, MN; Vickie Payne, of Woodbury, MN; and Colette (Bill) Johnson, of Hanover, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Forest Mosher and Rodney Mosher; one sister, Eva Mosher; and his parents.
Memorial Services will be on Friday May 19, 2017; 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be on Saturday May 20, 2017; 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery, Beltrami, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.
