Esther Jasch

Funeral services were 11:00 AM Friday January 12th at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. Burial will take place in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes. Esther (Tovson) Jasch was born in Richwood Township, Minnesota on November 11, 1924, and was called home to the Lord on January 10, 2018 after a long life of 93 years. She was united in marriage to Donald Jasch in Thief River Falls, on August 15, 1943. To this union five children were born, Lois, Harvey, twins: Arnold and Arlene, and Jonathon. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1948 and Esther cared for the home and raised the children. She worked for Swift Turkey Farms, Red Owl Grocery Store, and a school cook at both the Middle School and High School in Detroit Lakes.

Esther had many adventures in life including traveling to the North Pole in Alaska, Canada and Wyoming. She also traveled to Guam, Europe (Switzerland, France, Holland, Germany, Italy, and Belgium) and Hawaii seven times. Esther's love of polka music sent them to polka fests all over the country. Esther was given the gift of life and now we have to let her go. Esther has been reunited with family and friends in heaven who she hasn't seen in a long time. We will remember her smile, her loving heart, and her love for polka music. Family and friends on earth will celebrate her life of earth and wish her a safe journey until we meet again. In lieu of sorrows, express your love. She is survived by her children: Arlene (Rick) Hilmer of Wickenburg, Arizona; Jonathon Jasch of Detroit Lakes; son-in-law: Dennis Plasschart of California City, CA; daughter-in-law: Mary Jasch of Detroit Lakes; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Thelma (Severson) Tovoson, husband, Donald in 2016; daughter, Lois Plasschart; sons, Harvey and Arnold Jasch; daughter-in- law, Becky Jasch; and ten brothers and sisters.

Arrangement's are with the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes.
