Millers score big early to down Angels

The New York Mills Millers jumped on Detroit Lakes early with a big second inning to defeat the Angels 13-7 in New York Mills Wednesday night.

The Millers scored six earned runs off four hits, two walks and hit batsmen by DL starter Jackson Nelson in the second inning.

New York Mills opened a 10-2 lead before DL added runs late in the game in the eighth and ninth innings.

Connor McLeod had three hits for the Angels. Kyle Singer hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning; his first home run of the year.

Mike Baune hit a two -run home run for Mills.

Nelson took the loss pitching 4.1 innings. He allowed 10 runs, six earned on seven hits with five walks and two strikeouts.

The Angels needed four pitchers to finish the game. McLeod, Kirk McLeod and Kyle Singer all appeared in relief.

Adam Snelgrove picked up the victory for the Millers.

Detroit Lakes is on the road at Pelican Rapids Wednesday, June 21 and returns home Saturday, June 24 against the Moorhead Brewers. Both games have 7:30 p.m. starts.
