The Frazee 14U softball team placed third at 11th annual West Fargo United softball tournament Saturday.
Frazee opened the tournament with an 8-3 victory over Warroad in a game the was weather-suspended over two days. Abby Wothe got the win in the circle and the team was led offensively by Clara Scolley and Dani Piche, both going 2-3 with a single and double at the dish.
Frazee built a 4-0 lead over Fargo North in the second round of pool play and added five runs in the third inning en route to a 12-0 victory by mercy rule.
McKenna O’Brien was 3-3 with a double, two singles and three RBI. Alexis Bauer homered in the game.
The Hornets earned the top seed and played Fergus Falls in the opening round of tournament play.
An eight-run third inning led to a 15-0 rout/ Wothe recorded the pitching victory and added a pair of hits in the game. Bauer was 3-3 with a triple and two singles. Madison Starry was 3-4 at the plate.
Jamestown snapped Frazee’s three-game win streak in a 5-3 loss that sent the Hornets to the third place game.
Frazee defeated Moorhead 8-0 behind Wothe’s pitching and aggressive running on the basepaths.
Frazee travels to Bemidji for the Bemidji Blaze tournament on June 23-24.
