Busker ties school record, named athlete of the week at St. Kate’s
Former Laker and junior Sydney Busker led the St. Catherine University Wildcats golf team to a second place finish at the Saint Ben’s Invitational in St. Joseph, Minnesota after shooting an overall team score of 652.
Busker was key to St. Kate’s success over the weekend and has been named Wildcat Athlete of the Week for her performance.
Busker was outstanding for the Wildcats all weekend, shooting a two-round score of 156 to finish in fourth place as an individual.
After shooting an opening round 81 on Saturday, Busker dropped seven strokes on Sunday to shoot an even par 74. That score ties the second-lowest single round score in school history and was the second-lowest score on the course that day.
After combining the scores of the Wildcats top four golfers, St. Kate's finished the tournament with a team score of 652 (+76), good enough for a second place finish.
MIAC foe Carleton College won the tournament with a score of 636 (+60), while Bethel's Christine Piwinca won the tournament with a score of 148 (+4).
The Wildcats will return to competition next weekend when they play in the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa.
