Training program for Beardsley Marathon

The Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center is offering a training program for the Dick Beardsley Half-Marathon and 5K races, which will take place Saturday, Sept. 6.

The programs will be run by experienced runner and certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Angie Johnson.

The programs include weekly discussions and instructor-led group runs and weekly and daily training programs.

The groups will meet every Wednesday from June 18 to Sept. 3.

Cost is $40 for premier plus members, $42 for premier members and $45 for non-members of the DLCCC.

Angels Alumni game set for July 5

The Second Annual Detroit Lakes Angels Alumni game is scheduled for Saturday, July 5, at the Washington Ballpark.

Bleachers Bar and Grille will be hosting an after-game party for players and their families.

Ladies' Golf League results

The Detroit Lakes Ladies' Golf League played Wednesday, June 4, at the Detroit Country Club.

On the front nine, Diane Kaiser finished tied with Darlene Hovland, each scoring a 33.

On the back nine, Kaiser shot a 32 and Fran Mattson a 34.

Betty Ihry had the longest putt, while Karrin Hawkins was closest to the pin in two shots. Lisa Larson was closest to the pin in three shots.

n The Lakeview Women's Golf League had record attendance Tuesday, June 10, in spite of threatening weather.  

Hidden Partners was the game for the evening of play.  

Results were: 1st place-Lori Peterson and Dee Bowman with 87; second place-Marlys Douglas and Rhonda Fode with 91; third place-Lisa Larson and Laura Hinderaker with 93; fourth place tie-Ethel Nelson and Marilyn Hartman, and Bernie Adams and Mary Sauer with identical scores of 95.

The longest drive for the evening was by Lori Peterson, and Laurie Lewandowski had the longest putt.

DLMGA results

The first half of the Detroit Lakes Men's Golf Association League is complete, with American Family Insurance leading with 24 points.

The top four teams qualify for the end of the season playoffs, which include American Family Insurance, Speak Easy, Bremer Bank - 2 and American National Bank.
