Flyers Level 6 squad takes bronze at Winter Challenge

The Minnesota Flyers gymnastics team competed in the Winter Challenge meet, hosted by the TNT Gymnastics in Fargo, Jan. 31.

The medals earned by gymnasts were presented by 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist Chellsie Memmel, as a couple of Flyers finished with high places.

"The Level 5 gymnasts are consistently improving in every meet they have participated in," said Flyers coach Sith Hansana. "This was a fun meet for them."

The Level 6 Flyers finished third overall, with several good individual performances.

In the 8-10 year-old age division, Natalie Nelmark came in first with a score of 9.05 on vault.

Emily Smith scored a much-improved 8.4 on the bars for fourth place.

Katie Overland scored a well-earned 8.85 on the beam, placing third.

Johanna Jernberg scored an 8.675 for a first on the floor exercise, while in the 11-year-old division, Morgan Eiter notched a 9.0 for gold on vault.

The MFG Level 6 team also included Emma Disse and Anika Bohmer, who saw improvement as well, Hansana added.
