Bombers pull back to .500

The Waubun Bombers finished the regular season with a 4-4 record after closing the schedule out with a 38-0 victory in Win-E-Mac Tuesday evening.

Adam Ladue ran for two long touchdowns, including a game-opening 40 yarder and a 20-yard scamper.

Ladue racked up 107 yards rushing, while Kellen McArthur went for 100.

Defensively, John DeGroat helped the shutout cause with two interceptions and three tackles, while Josh Syverson led the team with eight tackles and a forced fumble.

The Bombers are currently tied with Ulen-Hitterdal for the fifth seed in the section playoffs and if the Spartans beat winless Norman County West Thursday, it will be determined by a coin flip.

The seedings in the playoffs are as follows: Ada-Borup, Norman County East, Nevis, Northland-Remer, Waubun or U-H and Norman County West.

Spartans pull off win

Ulen-Hitterdal junior running back Dillon Stevens paced the Spartans to a 16-14 victory in Waubun on Wednesday, Oct. 14, by rushing for 162 yards on 29 carries.

Stevens ran for both of the Spartans' scores, but quarterback Cody Zimmerman's two-point conversion run was the deciding factor in the third quarter.

The Spartan defense held Waubun scoreless in the second half, after the Bombers led 14-8 at halftime.

The game was as even as the score, with Waubun holding a 245-240 yard advantage in rushing, while neither team had any completions through the air.

DeGroat led the Bombers in rushing with 82 yards on nine carries.
