Laker girls take third in River Lakes Tourney

The holiday break for the Detroit Lakes girls' hockey team was a mixed bag, but ended up good in the end with a third-place showing in the River Lakes Holiday Tournament.

The Lakers took third with a 4-2 win over Pequot Lakes on Tuesday in Richmond.

Callie Johnson scored twice for the Lakers (3-10-1).

Britta Johnson and Brianna Seabold also added goals.

Detroit Lakes dropped its opening round River Lakes Holiday Tournament game to No. 12 ranked Faribault 5-1 Monday.

Megan Bergland scored a hat trick for the Falcons to help them to the win.

Bergland opened the scoring 4:51 into the game, with Kristin Sirek's goal 15:04 in the first giving Faribault a 2-0 lead.

The Lakers are back in action Tuesday with a trip to Fargo South.
