Detroit Lakes boys rout Park Rapids in basketball

The first scoring play for the Detroit Lakes boys' basketball team was a good omen of how Friday night's game was going to go in Park Rapids.

The play started on a nice pass from sophomore guard Brian Labat to junior forward Josh Stalberger, with the end result being a slam dunk --which ironically was DL's chance to win the game.

The Lakers (7-7) lambasted the home-team Panthers 80-39, with six DL players hitting double digits.

"We didn't have a hard time scoring," said DL head coach Robb Flint.

In fact, Stalberger missed just two shots the entire evening, on his way to a team-high 15 points in the game.

DL scored from inside the paint, mid-range and long-range.

Tyler Fode and Connor Hedstrom each notched 12 points, while Alex Guetter had 11 and both Brian Labat and Connor McLeod each netted 10.

Fode and Labat had six assists apiece, while three Lakers had seven rebounds in Labat, Stalberger and Guetter.

Park Rapids (0-13) was led by Paul Dirks with 11 points.

The Lakers will travel to Pequot Lakes (6-7) for a Mid-State Conference tilt Tuesday, starting at 7:30 p.m.
