Laker girls' golf ties school record

It was the perfect course to conquer for the Detroit Lakes girls' golf team, which tied an all-time career low by shooting a one-day 318, which incidentally came at the heels of a 319 during the Jordan Invite at Ridges at Sand Creek Friday and Saturday.

There was good news all around for the Lakers, who opened the tournament with a dominating 319, but bested that by a stroke with a 318 Saturday, which also was a new course record.

The Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course also is the location of the Class 2A state meet, one in which the Lakers have their sites set on in June.

There was a little shakeup in DL's scoring order, as well, as sophomore Natalie Roth took medalist honors by firing a 79-77-156.

She replaced usual low-player Kate Smith, who shot well with an 80-78-158, while Trisa Hutchinson was second overall with a 78-79-157.

Rounding out DL's memorable scoring was Matty Tschider's 82-84-166, while senior Courtney Hedstrom carded an 82-84-166 and tied her teammate.

Sydney Busker finished with an 87-87-174, thus making all six Lakers' scores in the two-day tournament under 90.

DL dominated, as Belle Plaine was the closest to them with a 763, a full 126 strokes behind the Lakers.

The Lakers will continue their searing streak Friday with a meet in Bemidji, starting at 9:30 a.m.
