Bombers blank Eagles

The Waubun end zone was feeling quite lonely Friday evening, as the Bombers' defense built a wall between the pylons in a 14-0 shutout of Norman County East.

The Eagles (1-3) managed just 31 yards rushing and 54 through the cold, drizzling air on the stubborn Bomber defense.

"We played very physical against the run and a heavy wind helped out the pass defense," said Waubun head coach Paul Clark. "The defensive line did a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage and allowed the linebackers to make the big hits."

The Bombers (3-1) were able to churn out just enough rushing yards to set up a pair of touchdowns, scored by Kody Kologi and Jordan Spaeth, each on one-yard plunges.

Waubun had 160 yards rushing, while outgaining the Eagles 182-85 in total offense.

"Offensively, they really packed it in due to the conditions and tried to stop our running game," Clark said. "The offensive line did a good job of getting a push up front and we did enough to get the win."

Kologi had a hard-earned 67 yards on 15 carries, while Spaeth added 34 on 10 attempts.

Waubun will visit Park Christian (2-2) Friday for a 7 p.m. start.
