LP-A ends playoff run

Service errors and an opportunistic Barnesville volleyball team ended Lake Park-Audubon's run in the Section 6-1A playoffs Tuesday evening.

The top-seeded Trojans (27-2) downed the Raiders (13-13) in three games, all by the scores of 25-16.

"We just didn't play well," said LP-A head coach Mike Summers. "It's just one of those matches where you don't want to end the season on, but that's just how it played out."

The Trojans were able to take advantage of 11 LP-A service errors, while picking up potential blocks by the Raiders throughout the three games.

"We were getting blocks at the net, but they were not going down for points," Summers added. "We knew coming in, we would have to have a clean game. Barnesville made a few errors, but we didn't capitalize on them."

Junior outside hitter Bailee Bartunek led the Raiders with six kills, while Rilee Burnside had seven assists.

Barnesville will face No. 2 seed Ada-Borup (21-8) in the semifinals Thursday. Wheaton/Herman-Norcross will face Underwood in the other semifinal matchup.

The finals will be Saturday in Hawley, starting at 7 p.m.

LP-A advances through first round

Their matchup went the distance, but the No. 5 Raiders were able to leave No. 4 Ulen-Hitterdal with a 3-2 victory Friday.

LP-A won the decisive game five with a 15-9 triumph, after winning games one and three by the identical scores of 25-20.

The Spartans took games two and four, 25-21 and 25-23.

Junior outside hitter Bartunek led the way for LP-A with 19 kills, while Becca Schermer added 12 and Breann Hogie 10.

Burnside finished with 25 assists.
