An up-and-down season ended with an upswing for the Lake Park-Audubon volleyball team, as the Raiders were able to win their final five games of the regular season and eventually finish at .500 with a 13-13 mark.

"It was literally a team effort," said LP-A head coach Mike Summers. "I was pleased how the girls were able to fight back at the end of the season and start playing well."

The Raiders had six seniors in the lineup and all contributed in their own ways.

Outside hitter Emily Sunram was the second-leading player in kills with 136, while helping the Raiders' offensive attack become a formidable one by the end of the schedule.

The attack was pretty well spread out, but LP-A will return two leading net players in juniors Bailee Bartunek and Becca Schermer. Senior Carissa Raaen also racked up 130 kills on the season.

Bartunek led the way in kills with 197, while Schermer led in total blocks with 62.

Sophomore libero Cheyanne Nelson was the team's leader in digs with 345, while Bartunek was second with 283.

"I was happy with the season and it was the second year in a row we were able to make the semifinals in the sub-section," Summers said. "It was another year of improvement."
