Frazee Girls B-Ball - Bachmann is Hornets' all-time 3-point leader

The Frazee Lady Hornets opened their season on Tuesday night with an impressive victory at home over Battle Lake, by a score of 63-41.

The Lady Hornets started slow, but they used their full court pressure defense to key a 16-2 run, which put them up 19-9 about half way through the first half.

From there, Frazee rode the hot hand of Alexis Tappe, as she scored 17 of the Lady Hornets' final 19 points in the first half to lead Frazee to a 37-19 halftime lead.

Both teams tired a little in the second half, but the Lady Hornets continued to push the lead, which reached as much as 30 points.

The only drama left was whether Ashley Bachmann would hit her third three-pointer of the game, to break the career record of 164 held by Abby Berven.

Bachmann did hit the record breaking three-pointer, giving her the record, which she will certainly tack onto this season.

"It was neat for Ashley to break the record at home and it is a great accomplishment," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "She has worked hard at her game and has developed into an outstanding player.

"Most importantly, we did some nice things as a team in the game and also identified some areas that we need to improve on."

Tappe led the Hornets with a monster game that saw her score 25 points to go with 20 rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Kennady Barlund added 11 points and four rebounds, while Tappe's sister Josi chipped in with 10 points and seven steals. Bachmann finished with nine points and six rebounds.

The Lady Hornets will face Ulen-Hitterdal in Frazee Thursday starting at 7:30 p.m.
